District Development Program
Initiated in 1992 to serve the various communities within Tuscaloosa County with arts, parks and recreational opportunities, the District Development Program features a partnership between the Tuscaloosa County Commission, Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority (PARA), and qualified county applicants.  The County Commission and PARA have funded over $900,000 worth of project work throughout Tuscaloosa County.  When matched with community contributions, the total cost of projects to date exceeds $1.9 million.

Since the program’s inception, the Tuscaloosa County Commission has allocated money each year through Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority for district development in each of the county’s four districts.  Each district receives an equal amount of money to be spent during the fiscal year (October 1st - September 30th).

Please contact Erin Wiggins, Development Planner at ewiggins@tcpara.org or 205/562-3220 for more information.
