Pickleball

 

Although it has a funny name, Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the nation!
What is Pickleball? It is a sport that combines elements of tennis, ping-pong, and badminton, played with a paddle and more durable whiffle ball. The game is played with two or four players on indoor or outdoor courts of badminton size, or a slightly modified tennis court, according to officials. 
Although PARA does have some equipment to borrow, "you can get into the game for a relatively nominal expense with purchase of a paddle and balls for $50 to $60," said Hilliker.

 

Pickleball play is included with PARA membership or a daily user fee applies.

Seniors/active adults may be eligible for insurance based membership. You can check your benefit eligibility through the following links or PARA’s Center staff is happy to assist you:

  • Phelps Activity Center

  • Fall Pickleball Hours beginning August 9
  • Monday-Friday: 8:00 am-1:00 pm
  • Sunday: 1:00-5:00 pm
  • **Conflicts will be posted at the Phelps Center

  • Summer Pickleball Hours
  • Monday | Wednesday | Thursday: 6:00am-12:00pm - Two Courts
  • Tuesday: 6:00am-12:00pm - **Full Court | 5:00pm-9:00pm - Full Court (No Pickleball Tuesday evening June 25)
  • Friday: 6:00am-12:00pm - **Full Court
  • Saturday: 8:00am-12:00pm - Two Courts (No Pickleball June 22 or July 27)

 

**Faucett Center currently is a site location for PARAkids camp.  On Tuesday and Friday they are scheduled to be away or participating in other activities that would not require the use of the gym. If that should change and they are onsite those days the court will go from Full to Two courts.
